Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that emphasizes kicking techniques but also includes many hand strikes and other movements. The movements may be powerful and explosive, but also graceful, and when well-executed, beautiful to watch. More >

March 2010

We are now in our spring season for the taekwondo competitive teams. The season runs from February through May. Students who are interested can still join a team if they are interested, but they should do so right away and start training. Because a number of team members last season had trouble with financial costs, we have reduced the requirement from two events per season to only one. Poomse and sparring team members are required to join the Northern California Taekwondo Association, as individuals, at a cost of $10 for the year. Association members get a $5 discount when entering NCTA events, so during the year, the membership should pay for itself. Please turn in the application and payment to Master Austin or put it in the drop box as soon as possible.
We have started a black belt class for danbos and black belts on Monday at 6:15. All qualified students are encouraged to attend. Advanced curriculum requirements need some extra training and practice, and it can be difficult to find the time during regular classes, so this is an opportunity to focus on those higher-level techniques and make some good progress.
Taekwondo Student of the Month for March is Jonathan Martin.
