Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that emphasizes kicking techniques but also includes many hand strikes and other movements. The movements may be powerful and explosive, but also graceful, and when well-executed, beautiful to watch. More > |

July 2008

As of July 1st, we have a new policy about punctuality. In the past we have been lenient with punctuality. It has become more of a problem to allow this to continue. Classes are large and interruptions are very disruptive to the class. The rule for Purple Belts and up will be that if you come to class after attendance has been taken, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN! White, yellow and orange belts will have some flexibility, but the higher color belts should be more responsible. If you have a class somewhere else in CYC that ends at the same time that your TKD class begins, you will be expected to leave that class early and come to TKD on time. If you need to leave TKD early to get to another class on time, you will be allowed to, as long as you let the instructor know at the beginning of class.
All students must come to class with a proper uniform, INCLUDING YOUR BELT! Green belts and up will no longer be allowed in class without a belt. If you lose your belt and cannot find it, talk to Master Austin about a replacement. If you happen to leave it in the car or forget it at home, you will not be able to participate in class.
Coming to class on time and wearing a proper uniform are simple things, but they show your attitude toward your training. Students, especially higher color belts, should display their Taekwondo spirit and pride by being strict with themselves in these details.
The Taekwondo Athlete of the month is Michael Cornejo. Michael has been making significant progress as an assistant instructor and is nearing completion of his Black Belt testing process.
