The CYC dance program features a variety of dance classes for youth. Ballet is the foundation of the CYC program, and thus the majority of classes reflect opportunities with ballet training. Other forms of dance are available in the program as well; however these classes also teach selected standard ballet techniques as part of their curriculum. More > |

July 2008
June was a busy and exciting month for the dance program. Our 2nd Annual Spring Showcase on June 6 was a huge success. All in total we raised over $1,000 for the dance program! Thank you to all 50 students who participated, and to our outstanding parent volunteers. Everyone’s hard work and dedication came together for a beautiful performance. Great job!
Following the showcase was our first dance camp of the summer; fifteen dancers ages four to six participated in the week long camp. Campers spent the time studying ballet, music, jazz, musical theatre and creative movement. The dancers did a fantastic job, and the week culminated with a special demonstration for family and friends. An additional pre-school dance camp has been scheduled for July 7 - 11. Space is limited, so sign up today. The fun continued with the ballet camp that ran June 23 - 27. The campers learned, practiced and perfected their ballet technique. Thank you to all the campers for your wonderful attitudes of willingness to learn!
The Dance Athlete of the month for June is Fernanda Gonzaga. Fernanda is a dedicated and promising student who always comes to class with a good attitude and an excellent work ethic. Fernanda participated in our showcase in the Dance of the Little Swans and did and outstanding job. Keep up the good work Fernanda!
