The CYC dance program features a variety of dance classes for youth. Ballet is the foundation of the CYC program, and thus the majority of classes reflect opportunities with ballet training. Other forms of dance are available in the program as well; however these classes also teach selected standard ballet techniques as part of their curriculum. More >

April 2010

April may bring showers, but that wont bring the Dance Program students down; were busy preparing for the Spring Showcase! Rehearsals begin this month and continue into May in preparation for our show on Saturday, June 5. Mark the calendar now and be sure to invite friends and family. This years production will feature selections from Carnival of the Animals and the classic childrens tale Peter and the Wolf.
Later this month we will celebrate National Dance Week, which runs from April 23-30. To commemorate the start of this exciting week, the Dance Program will be hosting a National Dance Night fundraiser on Friday, April 23 with dance, food and fun. This event will run from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in building one, and tickets may be purchased at the door for $5 per person. The evening will include dance demonstrations by our own advanced dancers, as well as guest performances and instruction from local dance groups. So bring your party hat and dancing shoes—we look forward to seeing you there!
The Dance Student of the Month is Isabella Teran. Isabella is a dedicated participant in dance, attending three different weekly dance classes. She is an excellent example of the student that the Dance Program strives to develop; she is a devoted, enthusiastic and helpful student. Great job Isabella, and keep up the good work!

Sender: Kristy Peterson

Message: All Dance Classes will be canceled on Dec. 3 & 4 to allow staff time to prepare for the Nutcracker performance on the Dec. 5 & 6.
