The CYC cheerleading program is designed to teach girls of all ages about the sport of cheerleading. Not only does this program offer the girls training in tumbling, stunting, motions, and jumps, but it also provides the girls with values to use for life. Becoming a part of a cheerleading team teaches the girls about teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, desire, leadership, time management, etc. Because this program requires the girls to spend a lot of time together and to rely on each other, this program also places a great emphasis on friendship, trust, and fun. July 2008

Cheerleading tryouts are the first week of July from 9a.m. to noon. All girls, ages 6-14 are welcome to tryout. Signup for tryouts are located in the front office of building one.
Another cheer camp is approaching! The camp for six and seven year-olds will be held July 14-18. The Cheerleading Program has added a new coach Sabrina Bellichi. Sabrina currently attends Concord High School. She has participated on an All-Star and an All-American team for several years. Sabrina has also coached tumbling classes for Northgate High School, and coached a competitive youth city team. Welcome Sabrina!
The CYC wants to congratulate Princess Barco, Laura Vesga, Samantha Malano, Lauren Leahy, Gaby Garcia, and Megan Sininger for making their high school or All-Star cheering teams! Fantastic job girls!
The cheerleader of the month is Diana Vasileva. Diana has been on the competition level 2 team and has been working very hard on the off season. She is currently working on her back-tuck. Diana’s coach described her as a sponge. “Every time I give instruction, she listens to my critique, thinks about it, and applies it to her tumbling.” Diana is very close to both her standing and running tuck. She is also skilled in her jumping and stunting skills. Diana is a very hard worker and always strives to improve all of her tumbling skills. Great job Diana! Keep up the good work!
