The CYC is designed to attract youth and offer them a place to learn and train in athletics. Once involved in the CYC's various athletic programs, we help the students balance their educational and sport activities by providing an environment suitable for educational activities. July 2008

Final tests, term papers, Spanish essays, math quizzes; it is all over. Summer has arrived! All of our Academic Excellence students were well prepared for the end of the year and sprinted through the finish line with another successful school year under their belt. The last few weeks in both academic rooms were extremely busy with students studying for exams and finishing up final projects. Now the Academic Excellence Program is switching gears and preparing for three separate summer camps that will each run for one week.
The first of our Academic Camps will have an international theme and feature cultural activities from Japan, Spain, Peru, Australia and Ireland. Lessons will include: sushi rolling, haiku writing, flamenco dancing, Peruvian style mask making, painting and much more. Guest speakers and local topic specialists will volunteer their time to further educate the CYC youth on international concepts and ideas.
Throughout the summer months CYC, as well as the local public library will host a Read-A-Thon. The goal is to encourage youth to pick up a book and engage their mind. The Academic Program is pushing the issue of continued summer learning to keep minds fresh and keep kids away from the television and video games. There will be prizes for contest winners and awards for all participants. More information is available in Academic Room.
