"I believe that judo training will help to prepare our students to become more confident, patient and contented persons. For those gifted and dedicated students, there are many opportunities to participate in competitions at local, regional, national and international levels, as well as to represent the USA in the Pan Am Games and the Olympic Games. Our reward system is to promote students with colored belts (from White to Black Belt) based on the guidelines provided by USA Judo.
"My role is to influence our CYC judo students to be contributing persons in our community through judo training. It is my sincere hope and aspiration for young people at CYC to dream big and work diligently every day to achieve their goals in life and become happy, confident and caring people!" |

I was introduced to Judo by a friend in high school and to competition by a Junior National Champion. That is the simple beginning to a lifelong connection with Judo. I was an active competitor and competed as a senior white belt and brown belt. I earned my first class Brown belt in 1988. I returned to Judo when my daughter and son joined the CYC Judo program. I started as a volunteer parent Judo coach in 2010 and became one of assistant Judo coaches in 2011 at the Community Youth Center.

I was first introduced to JuJitsu/Judo in 2008. Initially a wrestler in the 100kg weight class, I placed first in Freestyle (2009, 2010) and Folkstyle (2010) state, and 2010 Junior Women's Freestyle Nationals (runner up in 2009). I coached wrestling to girls in Concord High School. I returned to Judo when my sister joined the Community Youth Center Judo program. I started as a volunteer Judo coach in 2010 and became an assistant coach in 2011. I enjoy coaching and helping kids develop confidence through a fair and safe environment in the Judo program, as well as participating in tournaments as a youth coach and a competitor, and obtained a third class Brown belt, under the guidance of Sensei Nam.
