  Gary Sullenger

Gary Sullenger has been involved in amateur and professional boxing for more than 30 years with the past six years as head boxing coach of the Community Youth Center. Since joining the CYC in 2001, he has taken the program to new levels by teaching and developing discipline and good moral character in his young participants. As a result of his coaching style, Sullenger has produced several elite amateur boxers including Golden Glove, Silver Glove, state and regional champions, in addition to national level placers.

Sullenger was the California National Team Coach for the 2005 Junior Olympics Nationals and was selected by USA Boxing as the Northern Cal representative for the Elite Coaches Clinic at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs that same year. Most recently, Sullenger received another honor as he was named the 2007 Men's National Coach also which will be training in Colorado Springs.

Prior to the CYC, Sullenger owned and operated his own professional boxing school where he managed and trained several amateur and professional champions competing worldwide. He has worked with Fernando Vargas, David Tua, Jose Luis Lopez, Nicky Walker, Karama Leota, and Juan Arias. He has not only trained boxers in the U.S., but also in England, Germany, South Africa, and on the amateur level has been invited to coach at the World Games and the Pan-Am Games.
