Lauren Healy joined the CYC as an Outdoor Activities Program Director in March 2007. She is responsible for the off-site activities run at Rancho Esquon, Camp Concord, Camp Nejedly, Grizzly Island and trips on the 'Flying A' Boat. In addition, she added the responsibilities of overseeing the Academic Excellence Center in October 2007.
Healy graduated from San Diego State in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in communication and Spanish. After graduation, she moved abroad to teach English to young students in Spain for one year. Upon returning to the United States, she spent two years working as a teacher and soccer coach in the Oakland Unified School District. Throughout her teaching career, Healy has worked with diverse groups of youth and special needs children.
With a love for the outdoors, Healy has traveled extensively throughout Europe, South America, Australia, Canada and the United States seeking outdoor adventure in remote corners of the world. Her hobbies include mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, river rafting and all sports. Healy's goal is to share her passion for nature with the youth of the CYC. In addition, she will continue to share the CYC mission to provide youth with a structure suitable for educational activities in a consistent and supportive environment.
