  Deborah Jansen  
  Academic Excellence Lead Instructor  
     
 

Deborah Jansen is Lead Instructor for Academic Excellence at CYC. She has a Bachelors of Science Degree in Finance from the University of Southern California and a Masters in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School.

She worked in strategic planning and consulting and retired from McKesson Corporation, a medical and pharmaceutical company, where she held various positions including Executive Vice President Marketing.

Shortly thereafter, she started volunteering at CYC. She also leads the Finance Committee at De La Salle High School and is a board member of the CYC and JCM Partners, a privately held real estate company. She is married and has two sons, both De La Salle and CYC alumni, who are now in college.

 

  Raymond Garcia  
  Academic Excellence Assistant Instructor  
     
 

Ray graduated from University of Pacific with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering. Ray comes to CYC with experience tutoring youth of all ages. In addition to his work at CYC, Ray also volunteers at the San Francisco General Hospital in the Emergency Department and is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu enthusiast.

 

 
  Nicole Nelson  
  Academic Excellence Assistant Instructor  
     
 

Nicole Nelson is the lead instructor for the Little (K-6th) Academic Excellence Room. Nicole graduated from Sonoma State with a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. She has been the site coordinator for an after school enrichment program in the Mount Diablo Unified School District and has been teaching and enriching students' lives in multiple venues for many years. She is enthusiastic, creative and a dedicated instructor.

 

  Anna Salem  
  Academic Excellence Assistant Instructor  
     
 

Anna Salem is a Program Director and an Assistant Instructor for the Academic Excellence Program. She graduated from Scripps College with a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and Politics. At CYC, Anna enjoys working with students in their writing and encouraging students to develop their critical thinking.

 

 
  Catherine Uy  
  Academic Excellence Assistant Instructor  
     
 

Catherine (Cici) Uy has worked for CYC for a number of years, but has recently become a nightly tutor in the Academic Excellence Room. Cici graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She taught math and physics at a charter school in Oakland and is now working towards a degree in nursing.
