Community Youth Center
Corporate Backgrounder
The Community Youth Center (CYC) is a state-of-the-art sports and academic Center where youth ages 3 to 18 thrive in a dynamic and positive environment. A one million dollar gift from The K.H. Hofmann Foundation opened the CYC in September 1995 to provide such a place for the youth of Concord and the surrounding communities. Each year, the Center has continued to grow with more than 1,100 members participating today. The CYC offers 10 recreational programs, as well as an academic excellence center. Combined, these programs help members manage their time effectively so they can become even better students and athletes. More > |

March was an awesome month here at CYC for the Judo Program. Congratulations to all of you who passed promotional testing on March 25. Were very pleased to see so many working hard and participating in regular practice sessions in the pre-judo, beginning, intermediate, advanced and competition classes. The CYC judo competitors are showing more team work.
Starting in April, the competition classes will have been restructured. These classes are now held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Recreational classes remain the same. Judo Student of the Month is Paul Tomerson. Paul demonstrates all the core values of CYC each time he steps on to the mat. He attends classes regularly with a tremendous focus and enthusiasm. Paul is a fast learner and very courageous student for attempting free-sparring at such a very early stage in his judo training. He is really starting to improve in his breaking-falls, throwing and pinning techniques. Paul will be a nice addition to our competition team. Thank you for setting a good example for other students. Keep up the good work! |
