Camp F.U.N. (Fitness and Understanding Nutrition) is a 6-week summer camp organized by CYC and the Healthy Hearts program out of UCSF Medical Center.
CYC partners with Dr. Carolyn Jasik to bring this camp to existing CYC members, as well as youth that want to participate in the program for the summer term. The goal of the camp is to teach kids about a healthy lifestyle; one that includes staying physically active and being conscious of what types and amount of food they eat. This camp is not strictly about losing weight, but learning about the tools to live a healthy lifestyle.
Camp F.U.N. also has two Saturday classes, in which the campers and their parents attend a nutrition class taught by the campers. Throughout the course of the summer, campers went bike riding at Point Pinole, hiked the Lafayette Reservoir twice, played laser tag, competed in Safeway and Mall scavenger hunts, and finished the field trips off with some serious rock climbing at Diablo Rock Gym. Camp F.U.N. is an outstanding summer program, and the kids truly make it special for all of the coaches and parents involved.
