In addition to offering ten sports, CYC has three fully equipped and staffed Academic Excellence tutoring rooms. The "Little AE" room is for students from 1st through 4th grade; the "Big AE" room is for 5th through 8th grade students; and our "High School AE" room services students in 9th through 12th grade. Our objective is to help student athletes be successful in the classroom by providing a safe and quiet environment in which to study and learn. CYC staff stresses the importance of education on a consistent, supportive, and daily basis.
Our rooms are designed to be quiet and productive work spaces for students to complete their homework, get extra practice, and develop social skills. We have computers, work spaces, printers, books, and school supplies available for student use along with tutors on staff to assist students who need help.
Academic Excellence also provides several enrichment programs to supplement the students' formal education. For younger students, AE has week-long academically focused summer camps, such as "Mad About Science" and "Journey Through Time". AE also started the "Fun Friday!" series on Friday afternoons during the school year in which students can enjoy practicing new talents, such as sewing, gardening, and cooking. For high school students, AE offers SAT prep classes, College Essay and Application Workshops, an Internship Program, and Career Guidance Counseling.
AE does not have scheduled classes; instead, the program is a drop-in tutoring center, designed for students to do homework around their sports, classes, and other commitments.
